Job summary

The role involves building top-of-mind awareness and consideration of Singapore as a choice destination for leisure travel and business events and to secure a pipeline of meetings, incentive travel and conventions/conferences for Singapore.

With the office being newly set up in Brussels and us having to rethink and reimagine tourism in the midst of the current pandemic, it is an exciting and dynamic time to be part of this small office.

Business travel is necessary as the office covers Western Europe (Luxembourg, France and Switzerland).

Job description

Main Responsibilities:

1. MICE (30%)

The incoming manager will contribute towards Singapore's positioning as a leading destination for MICE to program a calendar of business events and activities. Through gathering and analyzing of market intelligence data, you will help to increase Singapore's competiveness in acquiring new business events. The manager will need to be proactive in undertaking business development activities, plan for familiarization trips and support SECB's work to bid for conventions and meetings to build a pipeline of MICE events. You will work on cultivating and engaging stakeholders from the Brussels office, to achieve targets and other strategic objectives for SECB.

2. Leisure  (20%)

The manager will cultivate new partnerships and maintain relationships with leisure trade partners and stakeholders to promote Singapore. You should proactively source and secure new opportunities to develop markets and identify collaborations with partners as well as work closely with airlines and traditional trade partners to entrench Singapore as an exciting leisure destination. The incoming manager will plan and execute activities such as roadshows, networking sessions and familiarization trips to Singapore.

3. Marketing & Communications (30%)

The manager will develop and execute a comprehensive and innovative B2B/B2C marketing and communications/PR plan that will brand and profile Singapore as the leading leisure travel and MICE destination. This would include managing both the earned and paid media strategy such as implementation of marketing partnerships and media buys. The manager will also work closely with STB appointed PR/digital agency to drive content and digital campaigns on STB's owned platforms – Facebook page and website.

4. Market Research (10%)

The manager will gather and analyse market intelligence data to deepen STB's understanding on the market, map and implement key strategies and improve Singapore's competitiveness as a destination.

 5Finance (10%)

The manager will be the Department’s Finance Officer, monitoring the budget planning and utilisation of the office as well as handle all payments and bank-related matters.

6. Any other projects provided by the supervisor, Area Director

 

Key relationships:

Leisure and MICE travel trade partners, corporate clients, business associations, airlines, marketing agencies, media, influencers/KOLs and Singapore tourism stakeholders.

 

Job qualifications

  • 3-4 years of experience working in the tourism/MICE industry or a sales-related role
  • Experience in trade and consumer marketing plan formulation and execution, as well as partnership development, account management and PR
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication and presentation skills
  • Organised, independent worker with a keen interest in business development
  • Good strategic thinking and good analytical skills
  • At least bilingual (English, French, Dutch, German)

As the office covers Western Europe (Luxembourg, France and Switzerland) and is part of the larger Europe office network, the successful applicant will be required to travel within Europe to attend meetings, roadshows and tradeshows as part of work duties.
